Module 9- Hands

1. What was it like using your hand as subject matter for a drawing?
It was kind of hard using my own hand as the subject. For one thing, I kept moving it and I usually use both hands when I draw, one to actually draw and the other to hold on the paper.

2. What media did you select - pencil or charcoal? Why?
I used pencil. The only reason I did was because it was the only source I had at my house, plus I am more comfortable using pencil.

3. How did it feel to create a drawing with your non-dominant hand?
It was really hard! My hand was extremely shaky and I couldn't draw a straight line for the life of me. I couldn't get much detail in with my non-dominant hand because of that. It felt so unnatural using my left hand to draw.

4. Compare and contrast your final drawings. Do you think they are successful studies?
My right hand drawing of the left hand was definitely better in comparison. There is more detail and it looks more like my hand. The left hand drawing of my right hand is basic and is not really to scale.

5. Would you consider using your non-dominant hand to create artwork in the future?
No way. The whole time drawing it just felt uncomfortable and I kept wanting to switch. I hated that I couldn't get the detail I wanted and that my hand wouldn't move to where I wanted it to go!
